A lifestyle
worth choosing

Terry Seirlis created Building Futures to help boost the skills of young athletes in Warwick. Lesleigh Vincent is a Polo Crosse star and the winner of Building Futures 2021. Her Polo Crosse skills have seen her star in many competitions and have given her hope that she will one day play in a polo crosse World Cup just like the one in Warwick not too long ago. We caught up with Lesleigh after the Building Futures dinner to find out a bit more about her.

Terry Seirlis and Building Futures picked Lesleigh Vincent as the first place winner, pictured here.

Q: What do you like about playing sport in Warwick?

A: Playing sport in Warwick is great. There are a lot of really friendly people who have been very supportive of me and helped me develop my skills.

Q: What sports do you play?

A: I play Polo Crosse, but I enjoy a lot of others as well.

Q: What do you love about sport?

A: Getting to watch the best of the best play. Watching players who are the best is really inspiring. It encourages me to keep trying and hope that one day I can be as good as them!

Q: What are your best sporting qualities?

A: Umm, I would say having good sportsmanship. I care about everyone involved and think the best team leaders are the ones who are fair.

Q: If you had to pick one sport as your favourite, what would it be?

A: Polo Crosse for sure. It’s just the best.

Q: Who is your favourite sports star?

A: Lucy Grills and Lauren Stillitoe. Watching them play at the World Cup was like a dream come true!

Q: What are your future goals for sport?

A: To keep improving is my number one goal. I want to be the best I can be and hopefully play in a Polo Crosse World Cup one day just like my favourite sports stars.

Q: What do you plan to do with the Building Futures donation money?

A: I’m donating some of it to my Local club Cunningham and some of it to Scots PGC College and use some of the money to buy myself a new pair of boots and a new Racquet.

Q: If purchasing equipment what kinds?

A: Ian Harold boots are a premium boot that lots of pro’s use, and a Bennetts Polo Crosse Racquet because my old one is really worn out.

Q: Has this donation helped spark your sporting drive?

A: Yes, it has.

Q: How will this help you improve?

A: It will help my club with their junior program which will help to improve the quality of our training and I know that will help more than just me.

Q: Terry Seirlis said he was really impressed with your ability, and he wants to see you playing for Australia one day. Do you think you can do it?

A: I can do it! I already hope to play one day for Australia when I’m older so I can do it!

Q: Do you have anything to say to Mr Seirlis or Building Futures?

A: Thank you for the donation, it will help many more players than just myself to get better at sport.
